Designed for a young NRI couple based in the USA, this 1200 sq.ft apartment by BeSpace Studio is a warm, contemporary home that gracefully adapts to two distinct lifestyles: the couple’s vibrant, social visits to India, and the quiet, everyday life of their parents who reside here permanently. The design intent was to create a space that feels modern, welcoming, and beautifully functional—offering comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging across generations.

Entrance: A Warm Welcome with Character
The entrance sets the tone for the home with a custom arched door in a warm wood finish paired with a sleek black metal grill detail. A soft aqua nameplate adds a refreshing pop of colour, establishing the project’s recurring palette right at the threshold. Clean vertical panelling enhances the height and creates a sophisticated, inviting first impression.

Living Room: Soft Curves & Serene Tones
The living area is designed as a serene yet social space—perfect for family gatherings, conversations, and relaxed evenings. A backdrop of elegant, arched wall mouldings lends a subtle artistic touch without overwhelming the space. The furniture is kept light and modern: muted grey sofas, a boucle accent chair, and sculptural nesting coffee tables with marble tops and metallic accents.

The colour palette blends sage, soft neutrals, and muted blues, creating a calming environment for the parents, while contemporary artwork and curated décor elements give the room a youthful, urban edge for the couple’s visits.

Dining Area: Modern, Playful, and Functional
The dining zone is thoughtfully anchored around a round marble-top table paired with stylish upholstered chairs. Above, two slender pendant lights add visual interest without blocking the abundant natural light flowing through sheer curtains.

A custom console—acts as both display and storage, making the space functional yet artistic. Organic-shaped mirrors above the console bring softness and movement, enhancing the play of light in the space.

Kitchen: Pastel Modernity Meets Everyday Practicality
The kitchen unfolds in a refreshing combination of back painted glass in blue cabinets, wood trims, and white quartz counters—an aesthetic that feels bright, cheerful, and effortlessly modern. Textured wall tiles paired with micro-patterned backsplash add depth while maintaining a clean visual rhythm.

Couple’s Bedroom: A Tropical Retreat
The couple’s room is envisioned as a calm retreat enriched with character. The nature inspired wallpaper sets an uplifting yet serene mood. Soft beige wardrobes with textured oval insets echo the gentle curves found throughout the home.

The specific detail of an additional open storage in the wardrobe was created to keep their day-to-day belongings with giving them drawer storage below for their bags which they use while travelling.

Accents of mustard, sage green, and natural cane details balance the freshness of the palette. The bedroom feels youthful, expressive, and restful — perfectly suited for their yearly stays.

Guest / Multipurpose Room: Practicality Meets Playfulness
This room transforms effortlessly between a bedroom and a leisure zone, thanks to a beautifully detailed Murphy bed. When folded up, the space becomes an inviting corner with warm wood panelling — ideal for reading, working, or unwinding.

When opened, the bed completes the room with mustard and neutral linens, framed by the soft, immersive grain of the wooden niche. The flexible design allows the space to adapt to visiting friends, extended family, or quiet afternoons with a book.

Master bedroom: soft blues, nature motifs & a sense of quiet
The master bedroom leans into a gentler, more soothing palette suitable for the parent’s everyday use. A hand-illustrated wallpaper behind the bed depicts birdhouses suspended from delicate branches — poetic and calming in its visual storytelling.

Elements that define the room include:

  • A custom aqua-blue upholstered headboard
  • Warm wooden wardrobe shutters paired with serene frosted aqua glass
  • A floating wooden dresser with an elegant arched mirror
  • Sheer drapes with nature-inspired motifs that bring in soft daylight

The resulting atmosphere is peaceful, rooted, and deeply comfortable.

Design Philosophy: Modern Comfort Rooted in Warmth
Every detail in this home — from the curved furniture and gentle palettes to the nature-inspired art and layered lighting — serves the larger idea of comfort and emotional resonance.

For the parents, it is a peaceful, familiar environment.

For the couple, it is a heartfelt return to a space that holds their memories.

For their extended circle of friends and family, it is a warm and welcoming home that effortlessly hosts celebrations and togetherness.

This project stands as a testament to how design can bridge continents — creating a home that feels complete, grounded, and deeply personal no matter how far one travels
